As I was going to sleep last night I decided to recall my best and worst vacations ever, and as they say save the best for last. so here goes with the worst.
Worst Vacations Ever
1.Albuquerque n.m. This was a trip to visit my Granpa and it was highlighted with our car being struck by a bull on the interstate near Oklahoma City. It delayed us for 2 days while the car was repaired. Oh and by the way the car was a station wagon a Dodge Matador!
2.Springfield, ILL. It was Lynns fault. Our car brokedown near Mecanicsburg,Il. And there is no mecanic in Mecanicsburg. We had to be towed to Springfield. This trip was packed with unpleasant stuff as the car continued to act up. I didn't even get to go to Wallmart.
3.Cooperstown N.Y. My apologies to Gary Plunkit my partner on this misadventure. I got Homesick and had a terrible time. Gary never traveled with me again but remains a friend. It was so bad I don't remember anything except going thru the hall of fame.
BEST VACATIONS EVER
A little criteria here. It must be a place I have visited more than once, and still want to go back.
1.EastCoast Battlefields Shawn, Mike, and myself rented a Bronco to visit BullRun,Washington,Antietam, and Gettysburg. It was marvie. It is still talked about today and we would like to go back and do a Ghost tour in Gettysburg and the Tour in Washington, plus drive one more time over Washingtons Shawn Bridge. Never mind about the speeding ticket.
2.Gettysburg. It was fall and Susan took the family on Fall break. Not only was it terrific but beautiful. We literally did it all and met a Lincoln impersonator that ( named James Getty) was so good folks were calling him Mr. President. I tried to trip him up but he knew that Mr. L didn't put mail in his hat in New Salem.
3.Memphis. Thanks to Lynn and Russ for this one it was full of surprises. Like Hodgenville,KY, and Parkers Crossroads, Tunica, Memphis, Sonic, Gambling, and that short trip to Shiloh. It completed my quest to visit the best Civil War battlefields. Out of this came the ralling cry "I dont gamble my wife does!"Need to go back to see the Memphis Wallmart, and Sonic.
